Monkton, Vermont March 4th & 5th, 2006: Catamount Ranch in cooperation with Vermont Outdoor Woman and Vermont Outdoor Guides Association will host the 2006 Winter Doe Camp. The two day program presents an opportunity for women to gain confidence through the development of practical outdoor skills. This year’s program features the following classes: The Field Naturalist… Explore the fields and forests of Catamount Ranch with snowshoeing, animal tracking and wildlife habitat identification. Dog Sledding… Discover the joy of gliding over the snow with a sled propelled by a team of enthusiastic canines. Wildlife Habitat Enhancement… Learn to augment backyard habitat through plant selection and pruning for long-term improved wildlife health and diversity. Outdoor Photography… Develop skills for creating durable visual records of your backcountry and outdoor adventures. Survival & Shelter Building… Acquire survival skills and construct emergency shelters from natural materials found in the backcountry. Personal Security for Women… Enhance your personal safety while on the trail and practice techniques that help you to avoid and deal with backcountry hazards. Ice Fishing… Have a blast out on the ice with friends while you learn the fundamentals of fishing through the ice. Care and Feeding of Firearms… Bring your personal firearm to learn the fundamentals of firearm safety and how to maintain your firearms in top condition. Snowmobiling 101… Bring your own machine to develop riding and emergency skills suited to winter fun on the trails. |
