There are a variety of outdoor leadership programs in and around Vermont. Take your time and talk to the instructors until you are confident that you will receive the instruction that you need.

Hulbert Outdoor Center
Established in 1978, Hulbert Outdoor Center is a non-profit educational institution that serves 7,000 participants annually through programs designed to foster personal growth, self-reliance, confidence, cooperation, and a sense of community in people of all ages.
Kroka Expeditions is a non-profit wilderness expedition school based on a year-round, organic farm in Marlow, New Hampshire. We believe that consciousness and altruistic will can be brought forward through a living relationship with the natural world and by taking our places within the circle of community.
ROOTS School LLC
Engage with Your Landscape, Grow Your Wilderness Skills and Craft a Handmade Life. Roots School offers classes to meet varied levels of skill and intensity, from beginner to expert, youth to adult. We offer limited class sizes, hands on learning, and highly experienced instructors. School Of The Forest
Bushcraft, Guide Training And Wilderness Living Skills For All Ages And Skill Levels. We offer an environment in which young people and adults can learn outdoor skills that they can use for a lifetime. Not only the basics of outdoor living but practical skills that can be applied to everyday life. Hands-on, outdoor-oriented education is a vital part of life that in recent years has been moved to the realm of “recreation”. In our programs, we hope to offer kids a chance to learn hands-on activities and skills that are not only enjoyable but also create a greater understanding of themselves and the world they live in.
SERE Training School
Based in Colorado, SERE Training School provides world-wide outdoor survival training and consulting services to Civilians, Outdoor Professionals, Media Organizations, and Active-Duty Military Personnel using our signature brand of highly-specialized wilderness and hostile environment survival training techniques and experiences.
Offering SOLO-certifying Rural and Backcountry Medicine courses including Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, First Aid and CPR – helping outdoor professionals and rural enthusiasts alike more fully enjoy Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom outdoors. Vermont Adventure Tours
Vermont Adventure Tours offers courses in Primitive Living, Survival, Wilderness Medicine Certification, Intro to Mountaineering, Winter Living, Cold Weather Survival, Orienteering & Land Navigation, Leave No Trace: Trainer Certification. Winter programs include Intro Ice Climbing, Advanced Ice Climbing, Snowshoe Tours, Winter Hikes, Winter Camping and Cold Weather Survival Skills.
Zoar Outdoor Center
Charlemont, MA. & Wilmington, VT.
Zoar Outdoor offers ACA Instructor Certification in the disciplines of River Kayak, River Canoe, Swiftwater Rescue, and Stand-Up Paddle Board. Zoar Outdoor also offers Wilderness First Responder certification and recertification courses for outdoor professionals and enthusiasts.
Vermont College Outing Clubs
The American Canoe Association (ACA) is a national nonprofit organization serving the broader paddling public by providing education related to all aspects of paddling, stewardship support to help protect paddling environments, and sanctioning of programs and events to promote paddlesport competition, exploration, and recreation.
